It’s never too late to fall in love with your home all over again. They too need the tender care and attention that one seems to bestow on other household belongings and members. After all, it “houses” them. Here are a few simple and affordable ideas that really make a lasting impression for your home:

1. Go for more efficient bathrooms and kitchen spaces. Set up suitable cabinets and counter tops in the kitchen to make the best possible use of area in your home. One can opt for metallic, ceramic, shingled or any other type of affordable roofs. Mosaic floors or tiles can lend a fresh feel and look nice. One can also opt for wooden surfaces.
2. Install new switchplate covers. These are the coverings on your light switches and electrical outlets. Most of the switchboards at homes fade and attain a yellow tint over time. These plates cost about $1 for a basic white cover and easy to install and are widely available at major home improvement retailers.
3. Change the lampshades. It’s a small detail that makes a HUGE difference!
4. Get yourself new designer/floral curtains and/or blinds. These add a dash of freshness and homely appeal to the surroundings, in comparison to older, fading ones.
5. Get rid of all the junk! A less cluttered space makes spaces look bigger. It also provides new opportunities to refurbish and decorate your house with just the theme you want.

12. Avoid moving or changing the plumbing or foundation. It literally zaps your savings and costs a hell lot than you had originally planned.
13. Employ energy-saving lights. Replace old lights with LED lamps and smartly designed fluorescent lights that are much more energy saving.
14. Hang new pieces or art or create photograph collages and get them framed for your interiors. They make the home look very well built in terms of interior decorating aesthetics, well planned and tastefully built.
15. Alternatively, paint the ceilings. Start mixing-and-matching. Experiment with bold colored ceilings and neutral walls, like white walls with a bright yellow ceiling, or beige walls with an eggplant/purple ceiling. This increases the house’s credibility and makes it done with a class.
